Glow Teams

Thank you to all parents and pupils for any contributions to our Over the Rainbow event last Thursday.  It was nice to have a positive event taking place.

We have had many pupils engaging with their teachers but conversely, as is the case across a lot of the school subjects, there are still quite a number of pupils engaging rarely or not at all.  I am emailing parents to ask if they can  ensure and encourage their children to engage with their music tutor through Glow Teams if they have not done so already.  I fully understand that there may be a number of reasons why pupils are finding it a challenge to engage, no computer or having to share, work for other teachers etc.

In line with all other music services across Scotland the Perth and Kinross Instrumental Music Service is trying to develop the support for our young musicians.  This is being improved and developed further each day.

Thank you once more for your continued help and support in these challenging times.

Over the Rainbow - one day to go

We are now only one day away from the national event (Over the Rainbow) taking place tomorrow, Thursday 30 April.

As many pupils as possible across the country are being asked to perform Somewhere Over the Rainbow at 8:00pm tomorrow night as part of the national appreciation for NHS and critical workers.  Below is a link that will show you how to participate in this and how to access the relevant music.  Many pupils will already have been issued this through their Glow teams.

This is something that all the family would be able to do together.  Singing works too!!!

I would like to remind parents that they can capture this by photo or small video clip and send to their instructor through their Glow Team.  The instructor will send this on to the IMS to use to highlight the success of the event in the press/social media.  It would be great to see a variety of performers.

In addition to the above, we have been informed that BBC Scotland will be featuring videos from across the country on their news show “The Nine” to be broadcast tomorrow night.  Should you wish your video to be given the opportunity to be included, please send this to your child's instructor through their Glow Team by lunchtime tomorrow, Thursday 30 April, and we will forward it on.  Unfortunately we cannot guarantee your video will be broadcast as the BBC will be selecting the videos to use.  Please let us know if you would like your child's name, or family name, to be included.

Once again, please accept my thanks for your continued support to the service allowing us to keep your child’s music progression moving forward in these challenging times.

Kind Regards

Instrumental Music Service Online Support

I am pleased to inform you that the Perth and Kinross Instrumental Music Service  (IMS) is today officially launching its online instrumental music support for all IMS pupils.

This will be delivered through Glow. All Pupils will have been issued Glow logins at school. If your child logs onto Glow and then onto Microsoft teams, they will find a Glow team that they are a member of. This may be marked or identified as their school or more likely under their instructor’s name. It also maybe identified by school and family of instrument .eg.  Breadalbane Academy/Brass. When your child goes on to their relevant team, they will receive guidance from their instrumental tutor on how to continue their instrumental music participation.

There will shortly be a press and media announcement about this  launch. As part of this launch, the first thing our pupils have been asked to participate in is a national event (Over the Rainbow) happening next Thursday. As many pupils as possible across the country are being asked to perform Somewhere Over the Rainbow at 8:00pm as part of the national appreciation for NHS and critical workers. Below is a link that will show how to participate in this and how to access the relevant music. Update on Music Provision 3 April 2020

The Instrumental Music Service is working tirelessly to get an online provision for pupils through Glow (all pupils have a Glow email address).

We are hoping to be operational for all pupils (even if it is just initial contact through Glow) by the end of the first week after the Easter Holidays.  Pupils will receive communication to join a particular Glow Team from their tutor to start this provision.

Many thanks for your cooperation during this challenging time.

Update on Music Provision

The Perth & Kinross Instrumental Music Service is busy creating an online resource for Instrumental Music pupils learning through Glow on Microsoft Teams and perhaps Google Classroom.  Instrumental pupils will be contacted in due course with an invitation and information on how to access this provision.

We will get to you as soon as possible!

In the meantime, keep practising and playing any of your tunes and repertoire.
