Messages

PYO AGM - 2/12/25 @ 7pm, North Inch Campus, Perth

Dear Parents and Members of PYO,

I hope this message finds you all well, and that the musicians have had good rehearsals thus far.

You are cordially invited to the Annual General Meeting of Perth Youth Orchestra that will take place on 2 December in the Lecture Theatre,  North Inch Community Campus at 7pm.

We are dependent on parents/carers of PYO musicians to get involved and support the committee so that we can continue efforts to provide our musicians with varied opportunities to perform, for example, at the Fringe in Edinburgh or as part of future tours. Currently, several members of the committee no longer have musicians in the orchestra or have S6 pupils who will leave next year. If we are not able to find additional volunteers, we face the very real possibility that the PYO committee will disband.
The agenda for the AGM is:

  • PYO President's report
  • PYO Treasurer’s report
  • Conductor’s report
  • Appointment of the Conductor for 2025/6
  • Election of Trustees and Committee Members
Thank you in advance for supporting PYO and your young musicians.

Kind regards
Ann Marie Neave
PYO Honorary Secretary

Young Musicians' Parents' Association (YMPA) AGM, 6/11/25

The Young Musicians' Parents' Association (YMPA) invites all parents and carers to their Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 6pm on Thursday 6th November at the North Inch Community Campus in the dining hall.

If you would like your interests as the parent or carer of a young musician represented then please come along, or get in touch.

The YMPA is run by parents, carers and those with an interest in our aim of raising funds to financially assist the musical activities of the young musicians of Perth and Kinross.  The YMPA aims particularly to widen access to the annual Music Camps by subsiding places, as well as supporting the purchase of musical instruments, music books and other resources.

We raise funds through selling programmes and shaking collection buckets at Central Group Concerts, and providing refreshments for the Christmas Mulled Wine and Mincepies Concert (on Friday 5th December this year), and importantly we decide how to allocate the funds raised to best support our young musicians.  We also aim to represent the views of parents and carers with the Instrumental Music Service and PKC.

Currently, we are a very small group of volunteers and would gratefully welcome new supporters so we can do the very best for our young musicians, and so that we can more fully represent your views.

We look forward to meeting you on the 6th if you can come along, or please get in touch.

Message from the Young Musicians' Parents' Association (YMPA)

Dear Parents and Carers of our Perth and Kinross young musicians

The YMPA (Young Musicians' Parents' Association) would like to thank you for your generous donations at the recent Central Groups and Senior Music Camp concerts - we raised £988.

However we will be unable to continue to fundraise to support our young musicians without new volunteers, since after the Summer we will only have 2 parents still with young people at school and involved with the Instrumental Music Service (IMS). Our fundraising activities involve taking a donation bucket collection at the Spring concerts and providing refreshments at the December Mulled Wine concert - not exactly onerous tasks if you are already attending the concert and there are enough willing helpers to share the responsibility.

Over the last year the YMPA has provided financial support of over £6,000 to the IMS so that they can purchase music tuition materials, replacement woodwind reeds, replacement brass instrument mouthpieces, replacement violin and double bass strings, cases for musical instruments, replacement instruments and Central Groups ties - none of which they would have been able to provide to our young musicians without our funding. The YMPA has also subsidised places at Music Camp for a number of young musicians who would not otherwise have been able to attend.

Do you want this important support for our young musicians to be lost ? If not then please get in touch to find out how you can help the YMPA keep going - email : ympaperth@gmail.com

Thank you from the Young Musicians' Parents' Association.
